Project Update
The Geomarine team has completed the demolition of Berth 4 & 5 concrete decks of the Rottnest Island Main Jetty and is now installing piles for its reconstruction. Precast concrete fabrication is well underway in Henderson with the first headstocks and deck planks ready for installation.
Our team is doing a great job across multiple fronts to bring the project together in collaboration with our client, Rottnest Island Authority and their representative, WGA (Wallbridge Gilbert Aztec).
The project involves the end-of-life design and replacement of the Main Jetty Berth 4 & 5 with a new longer and wider concrete deck area. The reconstructed jetty will improve vessel clearances to existing berths, and the extra width will ease passenger congestion during peak times. It will consist of precast concrete panels supported on steel piles and a sheet pile wave screen will be installed to improve jetty operability for ferries on Berth 4 during strong northerly winds.
Geomarine is delighted to be involved in upgrading Rottnest Island’s nearshore marine infrastructure.
